Her Art Teacher described her as an artist who is comfortable using color, has excellent painting skills, works at creating interesting compositions and accepts criticism gracefully. She has already been accepted to Goldy-Beacom College, and will major in Business and minor in Art in the fall of 2009. In 2008 she received an award for her works that were exhibited in the Red Clay School District Art Show at the Delaware Art Museum. Her creations have also been displayed in the Hispanic Newspaper that she and her peers started at Thomas McKean High School. This year’s winner of the Arts Award for New Castle County is Rosa Luna.”
This year’s Honorable Mention award recipient in the category of Male Outstanding Hispanic Student of the Year for High School is currently a junior at McKean High School and ranks 11th in his class of 142. He has achieved recognition due to his outstanding overall achievements. Three years ago, he arrived from Mexico with the motivation to continue his academic success, and has exemplified hard work and dedication ever since by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 4.0, taking three honors courses and one AP class. Aside from displaying excellence in the field of academics, he also participates in seven extra-curricular activities.
